How I Personally Identify Real Shilajit (From Experience)
As a mining engineer and Shilajit manufacturer, I don’t rely on theory — I rely on real testing and field experience.
Here are the exact signs I use:
1. Smell (Earthy, Not Chemical)
Real Shilajit has a strong earthy smell — like wet soil from mountains.
- ❌ Fake Shilajit → chemical or plastic-like smell
- ❌ Some brands → burnt or “sheet-type” smell (due to overheating)
- ✅ Real Shilajit → natural, earthy, deep aroma
👉 If the smell feels artificial or too strong in a bad way, it’s likely fake or overheated.
2.Taste (Strong & Bitter):
Original Shilajit always has a strong, bitter taste.
- ❌ Fake → mild or tasteless
- ❌ Mixed → sweet or strange taste
- ✅ Real → sharp, bitter, powerful
👉 The bitterness shows presence of natural minerals and fulvic compounds.
3. Water Dissolve Test (Most Important)
This is the most reliable test.
👉 Take a small amount and put it in water:
- ✅ 100% dissolves
- ✅ No residue at bottom
- ✅ Color = clear golden/brown (like light saffron tone, not milky)
Fake Shilajit Warning Signs
From my experience, fake or low-quality Shilajit often shows:
- ❌ Mud particles or dirt
- ❌ Cloudy / blurry water after dissolving
- ❌ Very bad smell (due to heating or contamination)
- ❌ Leaves residue in water
👉 Many sellers mix mud or heat raw material, which destroys quality and creates a bad smell.
My Source & Process (Authority Section)
I personally source Shilajit from Himalayan mountains above 16,000 ft in Gilgit-Baltistan.
- Lab tested internationally (USA, UK, Switzerland)
- Multi-stage filtration process
- Sun-dried at controlled temperature
